I used Pigeon a long time ago, it was alright.

Could be cross-compatibility issue, some discussions point to ABBC or other extensions interfering with mChat, but may otherwise be OK. It might just need some experimentation on a test server.

I remember seeing phpBB running mChat, it worked like a charm featuring a wide chat applet across the front page when logged in. Somewhat unreliable at times but did have some admin privileges too for managing spam and stuff.

I guess like everything, it becomes second nature. The biggest hurdle in the past was compatibility with common apps and games, but Steam seams to have done a good job of making a large volume of their products available for Linux now. Eventually I will probably be forced into moving to a Linux based OS as standard, but having avoided it for one reason or another, or just laziness, it may need a slight learning curve to get used to it.
