What are your ideas for a bottom-up, self-managed community?

We were discussing this on the Saidit chat. A new community is underway that's guided by a constitution, Jason is writing the first draft. We're looking for ideas about how votes should work, how spam should be kept out, and anything related. Please give us your input.
